Do you feel as thought you always have to be doing something or else you feel guilty and lazy?
So many of us get our value from what we do, not from who we are.
You are a spark of Spirit. You are unique and amazing and beautiful….just. the way. you. are.
You are worthy and powerful. You are competent and creative. You are enough even if you lay on the couch and watch soap operas all day.
You are enough, because you are.
Here is a question I was recently asked on facebook and it sparked so much in me that I decided to write about it here.
Q: Jenean…I’ve been raised conditioned to feel guilty when I’m not being “productive”. So how does one relieve this feeling?
A: Guilt (any negative feeling really) tells us our thoughts are not in alignment with what our soul knows to be true.
Our inner Divine Self knows that there is nothing that we should be doing. We came here to experience our Divine-ness in an expanded way and just by being …you are!
Us humans decided at some point that we are only valuable if we are doing, so that changed the game.
A teacher once asked me, if a man lies on a couch pondering for 80 years and then writes a one-line poem before he dies that changes the way humanity thinks, is his life any more/less valuable than the person who is out there speaking to millions everyday on TV ?
I had to really sit with that one!
Here are the 2 suggestions I gave her (and you!) to begin removing the guilt:
My first suggestion is to examine all your beliefs around what makes you valuable.
My second suggestion is to begin removing the have to and shoulds from your life.
This is a generational belief and you are here to shift that for your family line….if you choose, that belief can stop with you! How exciting!
