Do you procrastinate, avoid and hide?

When resistance comes up for me I procrastinate, avoid and hide.

 

I spend time talking and thinking about what I want…when  actually really  I am just trying to talk myself out of it.

 

Total responsibility. It’s a funny thing.

 

On one hand, it is great to be able to know you can change anything at any time if you don’t like the result. On the other hand, it sucks because you are…..well responsible. There is no one for you to blame.

 

And that’s what we like to do as humans right?

 

I was talking with Coach Michelle last week and we were discussing my goals and the daily action steps that we had created.

 

I had to admit was, I wasn’t doing them.
I was saying I wanted to eat healthier, but I was gobbling up sugar.
I was saying I wanted to have more energy, but I was drinking everything, but water.
I was saying I wanted more clients, but I wasn’t making sales calls.
I was saying I wanted to feel better in my body, but I was choosing sleep over exercise.

 

And when she asked me why and what I needed to get moving. My only response was I need to make a decision and then act on it.

 

I have coached with Michelle long enough to know what I need to do. I know what I need to eat, how to make a schedule, how to create an easy plan to reach my goals, how to make space and time for self- care, how to step out boldly and confidently live outside of my comfort zone.

 

I know all I need to know. The key I had to admit was I was CHOOSING not to do it.

 

That was my breakthrough. I was choosing to take action steps that would get me the opposite of what I said I wanted.

 

I was choosing to stay small, tired, heavy, overwhelmed, drained.  I was choosing to stay in my comfort zone.

 

That was a fascinating viewpoint. I clearly saw my life as my choice and my responsibility.

 

Now, even with that revelation, I will admit, I did not jump right up and get back on track. I am easing into it…however, in each moment I choose not to take action, I am highly aware it is a choice.

I No Longer Hate What I See in the Mirror

Loving yourself has everything to do with losing weight and being healthy.

Coach Michelle talks about her 3 step system: Know, Love and Heal Yourself and it is an awesome system.
Here’s the deal:
I have been working with Michelle for 8 months now and I won’t say I have lost a bunch of weight, but I can say my life is dramatically different now then when I began working with her.
You see, I have always hated myself.
For most of my life, I hated myself for who I thought I was (fat, ugly, worthless) and for who I wasn’t and thought I should be (tall, thin, book and street smart). No matter what I did or accomplished, I was plagued by the ‘Not Enough’ syndrome and all the guilt and shame that comes along with that.
About 7 years ago, I began a spiritual journey and began to transform my life. I met Michelle during a time, when I realized I needed to love my body (which I thought meant lose weight) in order to move keep moving forward.
I have jumped in with both feet when it comes to the internal lessons and shifts I needed to learn, however I have fought her when taking action. So you could say I am playing for both the offense and defense….hard to win a game that way 😉
I am slowly coming around to consistency in action, but I will say my inner shifts have been dramatic. You see I can now stand in front of a camera and actually smile; I stood up at my last business mastermind and gave a bad-ass speech without worrying at all about how I looked (and that has never. ever. ever. happened before!); even though I am an introvert I find myself starting conversations with strangers! (WHA????); and most importantly, I no longer cringe when I look in the mirror, I now can wholeheartedly smile and LOVE what I see!
I know right!!
The time I have spent with Michelle has seriously allowed me to dive deep into the Know and Love yourself pieces….and I know as the healing occurs inside, so will it occur outside.

Lessons Learned From My First 5k!!!!

Last week, I did it! I completed the Muttersquerade 5k (supporting the local Humane Society) down here in Del Ray, FL

Now this may not sound like much, but for those of you who have been following my training know this is something I have been working towards since February.

I went there with 2 objectives:

1. To experience my ability to complete an organized race

2. To not be in last place

I am proud to say that I accomplished both! One of my friends even joined me and we were able to reconnect and work together to push ourselves faster…gotta love motivating friends!!

 

When the race was over, there were a couple of take-aways that came up and they both validated what Coach Michelle has been telling me all along.

 

First,  know your goal.

I could have beat myself up for walking instead of running, or for not having my fastest time, or any number of other things. The key is, it is all about progress….not perfection. Knowing my 2 goals allowed to focus only on that and it removed the need to compare myself to the other runners. (Some of which ran the entire 5k BEFORE the 5k even began).

 

Second, stay committed and you will get the result.

It was hot and humid (well…it is hurricane season!) Normally there is a breeze off the ocean that cools things down, but on this particular morning, no breeze was happening. About 3/4 of the way through, I wanted to stop. We passed some ocean front cafes and it would have been so nice to just sit down with my friend and sip some lemonade. But I knew if I didn’t finish the race, I would regret my choice to take the easy path.

So we pushed harder. We talked less. We became committed to getting it done.

 

No matter what situation you are facing in your life, these 2 lessons still apply.
